Buying memorial plaques for pets is something more and more people are doing today, to honor and remember their pets.
When I was a boy, back in the 50's, there wasn't any pet shops or Internet to buy memorial plaques or grave stones to mark your pets grave. The best you could do was make one yourself or hire someone else to do it. I believe pets of all kinds are gifts from God for children and adults to enjoy and love. Pets, can teach us so much about life, about love, losing someone we love, what unconditional love really is, forgiveness, and so many other things we experience with human relationships as we go through life. If you have ever owned and loved a dog you know what I'm talking about. We can sometimes treat a dog and even some other pets badly, and they seem to forget and forgive us very quickly, it would sure be nice if humans could do the same.
I remember the terrible feeling of loss I experienced, and how in private I cried like a baby. Pets are precious gifts that we should appreciate, treat well, and remember with love and respect as we would a fellow human companion. I hope you have enjoyed, and taken something out of, this short story. God Bless.
